How to download apps from Mac app store?

You can simply download any app of your choice from Mac app store by following the below steps:

  1. If it is a new Mac, you may want to create your Apple ID if you’ve never created one before.
  2. Once you’re ready with an Apple ID, it is time to launch the App Store. You can go to App Store from Spotlight Search, Dock or the Launch Pad on your Mac.
  3. As soon as the App Store launches, you can search the specific app that you’re trying to download on your Mac. Or, if you’re not sure about the selection of apps, you can refer to the range of featured apps and multiple app categories by clicking respective tabs in the left-hand side of the window.
  4. Now, you need to click on the app icon that you wish to download on your machine.
  5. There, it provides you with all the information regarding the specific app, you may click on ‘Get’ or the ‘price’, whichever is shown, in order to download. Here, the ‘Get’ option comes when the app is free to download. Else, you’d be shown the price of the app to download.
  6. If you click on ‘Get’ the button turns green, saying install. In case, it is a paid app and you click on the price, you would be asked to Buy App.
  7. Then, you may enter your Apple ID and password to complete the process and start to download. Once done, the app starts to download, which you can find in your Applications folder in the Finder. Or, you can access it through Launchpad.

Navigate to the location where you want the files to be stored. Click the Select button. Click the Close button to exit Preferences. To download a specific image that appears on a web page, move your pointer over the image, right-click, and choose Save Image As from the pop-up menu that appears. There are three options under Allow apps downloaded from. Here are the descriptions taken from Apple’s support site. Mac App Store – Only apps that came from the Mac App Store can open. Mac App Store and identified developers (default in OS X) – Only allow apps that came from the Mac App Store and developers using Gatekeeper can open. By default, Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite and El Capitan (10.8 - 10.11) includes a security feature called Gatekeeper. Gatekeeper will check the security settings on Mac OS X and see what apps are allowed to launch. The default setting is to allow apps from the App Store and identified developers that have signed their apps. However, downloading apps from unrecognized publishers may lead to breach of privacy even on a Mac. When you download apps from Apple’s own App Store, the applications not only get signed by the developers, who have created them but also, they undergo Apple’s app review process to ensure that they do not hamper your machine or the privacy. Unlike the iPhone and iPad, the Mac can run software that's been downloaded from any source, though OS X's default security settings will only allow you to run apps that have been downloaded from the Mac App Store and from 'identified developers'—developers who have a digital certificate from Apple on file.

Although, you are allowed to download apps from various sources. However, downloading apps from unrecognized publishers may lead to breach of privacy even on a Mac. when you download apps from Apple’s own App Store, the applications not only get signed by the developers, who have created them but also, they undergo Apple’s app review process to ensure that they do not hamper your machine or the privacy.

Moreover, Apple would keep the database of all the applications that you’ve got under your Apple ID. This way, if you buy a new Mac machine, all you’ve to do is just login with your Apple ID and passwords, and you would be able to re-install all the applications swiftly.

Overall, you may find it different to operate a Mac machine than Windows due to its interface and other settings. However, once you’ve got your hands-on Mac, you may probably never want to look behind. My preferred choice for an emulator is BlueStacks App Player, a viral and effective platform. However, to download this emulator, you will first need to allow apps from other sources to be installed.

Allow Apps from Unidentified Developer in macOS

By default, your Mac only allows apps from the Mac App Store or identified developers. To download and install an Android emulator, you will have to tweak the settings a bit.

How Do I Allow A App Download On Mac

Step #1. Click Apple() Logo and select System Preferences.

Step #2. Open the Security & Privacy and go to General Tab.

Note: If the options are inaccessible, click on the Lock icon, from the bottom-left of the page. Enter the password to continue.

Step #3. Now, see the two radio buttons under ‘Allow apps downloaded from’.

Step #4. Click on App Store and identified developers option and exit the settings.

Now that you have allowed apps from unidentified developers, let’s complete the process and get Snapchat installed on your Mac. As mentioned above, I am going to use BlueStacks for the same.

How to Download Snapchat App on Mac

Step #1. Open Bluestacks.com on your browser and click on the Download BlueStacks.

Step #2. Once the download is complete, open the file to initiate installation.

Note: If you face any issue during installation, check out this guide for troubleshooting. Additionally, you will need a Google ID to login and use Bluestacks; if you don’t have one, create one before proceeding.

Step #3. Log in with your Google ID to access Bluestack’s main page.

Step #4. Open the Play Store app.

Step #5. Type Snapchat in the search bar to find the app. And click on Install.

Once done, the My Apps page of your Bluestacks app will have the Snapchat icon. Click on the app, enter your login details and voilà! You can use Snapchat on Mac, just open Bluestacks My Apps Page Snapchat.

The best part, the app will work exactly like it did on your smartphone. Along with viewing your friend’s snaps, you can also share yours if you have a functional webcam on the device.

What’s more, you can even save the Snaps on Mac by using screenshots or screen recording, just like your mobile device.
